Kundalini Yoga

Where focus goes, energy flows

What is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini yoga is the science of using your body’s own energy and chemistry to heal and tap into your own source of vitality.

Kundalini yoga is said to be the yoga of awareness. Kundalini literally means ‘coiled snake’ and is a dynamic practice that involves breathing, postures, meditation and mantras to awaken the energy at the base of the spine and it’s designed to enhance consciousness and physical vitality.

What happens in a Kundalini yoga class?

In Kundalini yoga, the postures are in sets called kriyas. In Eastern tradition, kriyas are used to help bring the body, mind and emotions into balance to enable healing.

In a typical class, we begin by tuning in together to focus us all in the same space. We then warm up, do kriyas, join together in mantra and meditation, relax together in sound, tune out and have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments together if you don’t need to rush off.

Our bodies are all unique so I will guide you in variations of each pose. You are your own best teacher, so always trust yourself and your own wisdom as you meet the poses in an appropriate way for you.
